The missing piece

Between the Swords Series loops and the 50-hour Grit distances, there was a gap. Something for the rider who’s done 100km races and wants more — but isn’t quite ready to commit to riding through the night. Something that pushes you to your edge without pushing you off it. The 100 Miler Series fills that gap.

One hundred miles. One hundred and sixty kilometres. A distance that sounds impossible until you do it — and then it becomes the threshold you keep coming back to cross.

Four races. Four landscapes. One format.

Each 100 Miler takes you through a different corner of Southern Africa. Desert plains in Namibia. Karoo vastness along the Gariep. Rolling bushveld in the North West. Misty highlands in Middelburg. Same distance, same format, completely different character.

Some races run during the  Grit race weekends, starting Saturday morning at 08:00 while the 50-hour riders are still out on course. You’ll share water points, pass bleary-eyed Grit veterans, and experience the Munga atmosphere — but you’ll be back at the finish before sunset.

Where the Road Refuses to End

There are places that try to impress you. The North West is not one of them. It simply stands there. Big skies. Thorn trees. Yellow grass. Brown-red earth. Old farm roads stretching so far into the distance that they eventually stop looking like roads and become thin...

The Dust of the North West

The Dust of the North West The North West doesn’t welcome you. It measures you. The roads stretch towards the horizon in endless ribbons of gravel, daring you to believe the next rise is the last one. It never is. By midday your legs are the colour of the earth. By...
